Welcome to Reception Class!


                                                                                                                                                        
This half term our topic is
'Adventures'.
        
Here is a guide for you when deciding what to bring in for Show and Tell on a Monday. Please send in one item only.
Thank you!


Week 1 -  Superhero boys and men - what powers do they have? What adventures do they have?            

Week 2 - Superhero girls and women - what powers do they have? What adventures do they have?
       
Week 3 - Superheros - a sports focus. 
                                         
Week 4 - Travels - where could we go? How would we get there? What might we see or do?    

Weeks 5  - Pirates and Princesses. What adventures might they have? On Wednesday 5th July we will be having an optional Pirates and Princesses theme Dressing Up Day (see our class newsletter for more details).        

Week 6 - Friends and new adventures.  Our picnic adventure and optional Superhero Dressing Up Day will take place on Wednesday 12th July (see our newsletter for more details).

 

Week 7 - Water.

If you would like to come and talk to the children about a current or previous job related to our topic, please speak to one of the EYFS team.
   
                                                                                                
My classroom door is always open, but if I am otherwise engaged you can always arrange a time to see me via the school office. I am looking forward to a fantastic term full of fun and learning!

Useful reminders:
 
A warm waterproof coat should be brought into school every day together with a named water bottle. Don't forget a named sunhat too!
 
Monday:

Please bring in your child's Reading Record and reading books, Sound Book and a Show and Tell (topic related) item should they wish to talk about it to the class (one item only).

 
  • Reading book/s with Reading Record - a comment about your child's reading and interest in the book/s  would be very much appreciated. It would be useful if these items could be kept in book bags and sent to school every day.
  • Sound Books  - if your child already knows the sounds please help with the correct  letter formation. Sometimes there may also be a phonetic word list.  Tricky Words -  separate lists inside Sound Books are there to help your child recognise words that cannot be sounded out. This will help them whilst reading and enable them to use Tricky Words in their writing.

 

Alternate Wednesdays:
Cooking activities with Mrs Gallagher.  If you would like to help with a cooking session please let us know.
 
Friday:
Library visit - please remember to return your library book so it can be exchanged for a new one.

Hugo dog      

Hugo is our cuddly dog. He will be coming home for the weekend with your child sometime during their time in reception. Here is a message from him:

Hello, my name is Hugo and I am pleased that I am coming home with you this   weekend. I have brought lots of things with me in my bag as I will need to change my clothes and brush my teeth after eating. Please bring me back to school on Monday and don't forget to write about our adventures (on an A4 sheet) and you can add photographs if you like! I am looking forward to having lots of fun with you.

Please make sure you pack my belongings in my bag on Sunday. If any of them are lost or broken they will need to be replaced please as I plan to visit all the children in our class.

If your child can already read these tricky words, please work on writing them as well.
