Our Digestive System Experiment
As part of our topic work (the digestive system) we did a fun experiment.
First, we got two bananas (the food) and mashed them up with forks (the teeth) in bowls (which represented the mouth).
Next, we added water to the bananas which was meant to be saliva.
Then, we spooned the mush into a plastic bag which was supposed to be the stomach and then we added bile (chocolate powder), acid (vinegar) and enzymes (a type liquid). Then we mixed the ingredients into the mush.
After that, we snipped the bag and poured it into one side of a pair of tights. We then carefully pushed the mixture down to the bottom of the tights which showed what the intestines’ job was. Everyone tried to squeeze as much water out as possible.
So then we cut the end and squished out the gooey mush and shaped them into small blobs.
Everyone loved the part where we made POO! Well, almost everyone that is.
And that was the digestive system we created. We loved frightening people with our mucky hands.
IT WAS SO FUN AND WE WISH LUCK TO THE FUTURE YEAR FOURS!
