Shortenills Trip

Shortenills Trip

As part of our Anglo-Saxons topic we had a fantastic trip to the Shortenills Activity Centre where we learnt about how the Anglo-Saxons lived. In particular we found out about the types of food that the Anglo-Saxons ate and drank (we tried an Anglo-Saxon style drink too). We also discovered how they foraged for food, and what they could eat and use from the woodland around them. We also decorated our yurt classroom in a style fitting for an Anglo-Saxon Yule celebration.

In the afternoon we split into two tribes, Mercia and Wessex, and had battles in the woods and fields around the activity centre.

We all had a fantastic time, despite the weather, and all the children represented themselves and the school brilliantly.
