“He’s behind you!” “Oh no he isn’t!” “Oh yes he is!” Sorry, I couldn’t resist! We’ve had a wonderful morning visiting the Elgiva theatre to see the pantomime ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The children (and adults!) were thoroughly entertained with music, song and dance – we even had a few children getting up to join in with the professionals! Thank you to Mr Ketley, Mrs Carter and Mrs Wallis-Prior for accompanying us, we hope you enjoyed yourselves!
This week we have been learning about our final celebration of our topic unit… Christmas! The children have started to write their own versions of the Nativity story, using zig-zag books to present their writing. They are also illustrating their books.
On Wednesday morning we had our very own Santa’s workshop in the classroom! The children have been sewing Christmas puppets (snowmen, Santa and reindeer) and they have worked so hard to master threading their needles and completing their stitching! We even had a couple of extra helping hands in the classroom… check out the latest photos on the class webpage to see who made a special appearance!
We have also been enjoying some Christmas themed Maths activities this week. We looked at the song ‘The twelve days of Christmas’ and used it to practise some addition and subtraction number problems.
Next week will still have a Christmassy feel to it, and we have an opportunity to spend some time with the Year 5 class to try some writing, reading and art activities together. I can’t wait!
Hope you all have a great weekend… it’s last minute Christmas shopping for me!
