Time passes so quickly and it is amazing to think we are in the final term of Year 2. As we enter the Summer term we are looking forward to learning about Plants and Animals.
We will focus initially on night time animals. In Science we will be focussing on habitats in our local environment and thinking about the plants and animals in them.
Of course there are many other interesting things we will continue to learn about during the rest of Year 2 including .....
Swimming, Time, Pitch and Volume, Money, Throwing and Catching, Festivals, Relationships, Dance, Shapes, Computers, Habitats, Feelings, Christianity and other religions, Philosophy…..
….. and we also have all our Literacy and Numeracy skills to hone and perfect as well.
We will continue learning and teaching using the ‘carousel’ approach familiar with the children meaning that most mornings the children will complete 4 activities which are either literacy or numeracy based. The children will work with an adult for at least 2 of these activities each day. Topic, Science and most other subjects are usually in the afternoons but we try to use links between subjects whenever appropriate.
We are lucky enough to have some coaches for PE this term. We will have a Gym coach on Friday afternoons for the first half term and a Dance coach on Fridays in the second half term.
The children in Year 2 will take their SATS this term. Please see separate document for more information. Please be assured that this is not a stressful time for Year 2 and we do not put pressure on the children at this time.
we are looking forward to our 2 trips this term to Windsor Castle and to the Amersham Field Centre. i am sure these will be enjoyable times. We also have an Art day to enjoy in June.
Mrs Edwicker will continue to work with Year 2 and we also welcome Mrs Dodd on some afternoons.
