The teacher in Year 2 is Mrs Collier Gow. The class will be taken on a Wednesday by Miss Bennett. Supporting the learning activities in class are Mrs Sirrell and Mrs Dodd.
In the coming year we will be studying a whole selection of themes including Giants, Amazing Journeys, Castles, The Great Fire of London, Living on an Island, as well as learning about the geography of different countries from around the world.
We will have lots of exciting Science lessons to develop our investigation skills and will be developing successful strategies for solving calculations and number problems in Numeracy. To help us develop in writing we will be reading lots of different stories and looking at the use of interesting vocabulary and phrases. We will be learning to write for different purposes, such as stories for fun, letters, lists, and instructions to help others.
Thinking independently is very important to successful learning so we will be working together to develop our listening and speaking skills through discussion activities. We will talk about different themes through sharing stories and art work. In our lessons we will learn to ask interesting questions, share ideas and begin to develop reasoning skills.
To develop independence and co-operative working we will be learning in small groups and rotating through activities each day.
Please feel free to come and discuss any questions with Mrs Collier Gow as soon as they arise.
We are looking forward to working to be the best we can, persevering and enjoying our learning together.
