Welcome to the Summer Term! We are looking forward to an exciting term, where we begin a new topic theme and look to spend time learning outside the classroom. There will also be the sponsored swim to look forward to, as well as Sports Day and even our class assembly.
As a class, we shall be travelling back in time as we study Ancient Greek culture in a topic that will link to many areas of the curriculum. In Literacy, we shall begin by exploring and writing Greek myths. So far, we have already identified the purpose of myths, have committed well-known myths to memory and have then performed these to an audience.
Our science lessons will include a study of the human digestive system, in which we shall be exploring the processes involved and even making a, somewhat messy, model of these! Later in the term, we shall also be visiting the Science museum to enjoy a special show that explores the journey of food through the digestive system.
In Music, we are very lucky to be continuing to take part in African Drumming. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about other music and other cultures in a fun and interactive way. The children have already mastered some traditional West African rhythms and hope to share these later in the term as part of a class assembly.
This half-term, our PE will now be taking place on Wednesday and Thursday. Each Wednesday the class will be taught badminton by a specialist coach, while Year 4 will resume swimming lessons on Thursdays.
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and are looking forward to an exciting term.
