Check in - For the first 20 minutes at the start of every day, and immediately after lunch, we revisit prior learning. This allows us to reflect on what we learnt and correct any minor mistakes.

Where there have been misconceptions or where a child has a big gap in knowledge, this time can also be used for 1:1 conferencing or for targeted intervention, delivered by both teachers and teaching assistants. 

We fundamentally believe that a child will not be able to keep up with their peers and the class's learning, without these reflective and remedial times of the day. 

What if we are finished or have nothing to correct? Then we can move on to another task that the teacher has set or choose a task from a selection given by the class teacher. We might even self-edit in order to improve pieces of work like inspired writing.
