Year 2

Hello Year 2!

I hope everyone is staying well and is cheerful. I am certainly missing seeing you all each day.  I hope you are all getting on alright with the home learning now it has changed to the new weekly format. Thank you so much to those of you who have been sending me photos and emails to let me know how you are getting on.  It has been great to hear from you and see so much of what you have been up to.  If you haven't sent me anything recently, please do send it to the email address below. It would be lovely to see which activities you are choosing to do for your continents work and for the learning about Julia Donaldson books.  I hope your revision lessons for the maths topics have been useful too.  Don’t forget to keep up with your reading.  I have made sure that everyone has some books still to read on the Bug Club page. Remember to do the quizzes too by clicking on the bugs when they appear on each page.  TTRockstars is still there for you to use too and it would be fabulous to go into Year 3 with a really good knowledge of the times tables we have covered.

You have been doing so well working from home all this time.  Keep it up for a little while longer and remember to send me your learning.

Take care of yourselves.

Examples of home learning from Year 2 this week

New email address.

Please see the email address below. This has been set up to use during the school closure time, so that the children can use it to send in any letters, questions or examples of learning.

year2@cedarpark.bucks.sch.uk

This email is specifically dedicated for the children to use to contact the teacher. If parents have any messages or queries for school then please still direct them to the school office email address as usual.

So year 2, would you like to email me?

Best wishes from Mrs Franklin smiley

Exercise Books

Some of you have let me know that you are coming to the end of the exercise book that was sent home.  As we are trying to limit the number of people visiting school, we are unable to provide new ones to you.  Please feel free to use any style of notebook/exercise book you already have at home or put paper in the back of the one you are using.  If you would like to get a new one we recommend A4 size, with half 12mm lined and half plain to give space for pictures and writing. To those of you who need a new book, well done on keeping up with the home learning!

Summer Term in Year 2.

Welcome to the Summer term in Year 2 at Cedar Park School and what a strange Summer term this is going to be.

First of all I would like to say that I hope everyone has enjoyed a lovely Easter break and that you and your families have had a chance to rest and relax together and maybe have been able to make the most of the sunny weather we have enjoyed.

If we were in school, this term in Year 2 the staff would be as follows:

Mrs Franklin will be the class teacher full time with Mrs Gow teaching Year 2 on Tuesday afternoons.

The Teaching Assistants in Year 2 are Mrs Owen (mornings), Mr Schofield (afternoons)  and Mrs Crocker (Wednesday morning and Thursday all day).

In the first half term our topic is  Night Time  and we will mainly be looking at nocturnal animals.  In the second half of the term we will study Around the World  with a visit to each of the continents. Both of these topics have been thoroughly enjoyed by Year 2 in the past as interesting and exciting to study.

Other Useful Information:

Obviously the learning will be at home for at least the start of the term.  I will continue to put maths, writing and reading tasks on the webpage each day and there will also be activities relating to Science, History, Geography, RE, Computing, Music, Art and Design to complete.  There will also be some PE activities to do to help you keep fit and healthy.

I will also add on your weekly words for writing to help you learn the spelling rules, a handwriting pattern to practise and some maths fluency questions to help keep your maths skills up to date.

One of the most important things to do while you are at home is to keep up with you reading.  This can be school reading books, home books, library books, online books, magazines, comics, recipes or subtitles on the television!

I know it is tricky to learn from home but just do your best and have a go at as many of the activities as you feel you can manage.

Remember just give it a go!

Hopefully we will be back in school together soon.

Take care.
