Useful publication:

What to expect, when? A parents’ guide

The purpose of this booklet is to help you as a parent/carer find out more about how your child is learning and developing during their first five years, in relation to the EYFS. Children develop more rapidly during the first five years of their lives than at any other time. This booklet has been written to help you as a parent know what to expect during these vitally important years by focusing on the seven areas of learning and development which are covered in the EYFS.

Mrs Bevins (class teacher) and Mrs Delmaine (Nursery Nurse) would like to warmly welcome our children and their families to our Nursery.

This half term our topic is Transport. The children are already very excited to be learning about different modes of transport and are having lots of fun! Each week we have a different theme for our learning and these will be as follows, I have included our focus letter, number, shape and colour too.

Week 7 - Buses, Diggers and Dumpers. Have you got your ticket - who do you give it to? Why are the digger's wheels so big?

f, 8, square, orange.

After half-term our topic will be Animals, many of the children have shown an interest already. Each week the focus will be on a different type of animal and picture book and will be as follows:

Week 1 - Sea Creatures, Commotion in the Ocean

Have you ever been to the seaside - which animals did you see? Perhaps you would like to draw a picture.

Week 2 - Dinosaurs, Harry and a Bucketful of Dinosaurs

What noise does a dinosaur make? Can you move like a dinosaur? Do you know any names of dinosaurs?

Week 3 - Pets, Mrs McTats and her Houseful of Cats

Do you have a pet? What kind of animal is it? How do we look after our pets?

Week 4 - Wild Animals, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Super Safari

Do you know which wild animal has stripy fur, or maybe spotty? Let's find out where the wild animals live.

Week 5 - Minibeasts & Insects, The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Which insects can you see in your garden? Can you write me a list? We will go on a minibeast hunt outside to see which ones we can find at Nursery.

Week 6 - Farm animals/Easter, Pig in the Pond/We're Going on an Egg Hunt

We are lucky to have some farm animals visit us this week (Wednesday)…..I wonder which animals will come!
