UPDATE 14/04/23:

The Curriculum News for the Summer will be on here shortly to give you a flavour of what lies ahead this term. Highlights this term include an Egyptian trip, Sports Day and with some good weather being able to use the school grounds more for some outdoor learning.

Please see the updated information below for any key days and information for Yr3. Home Learning goes back to weekly Maths and English tasks for this next half term - set on a Friday for the following Thursday. Reading books will continue to be changed on a Thursday.

A very busy and exciting year lies ahead and we are very much looking forward to teaching you in Year 3. There will be lots of new things for us all. Key Stage 2 is new for all the children, Mrs Barker joins us at Cedar Park with lots of experience elsewhere but it will be a new school for her and Mrs Thompson and Mrs Gregory are new to Year 3 as well. We will all learn together and will be a fantastic team, children and adults.

Mr Smith will be teaching the class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Mrs Barker will be teaching Thursday and Friday. Mrs Thompson will be supporting every morning and 2 afternoons a week with Miss Sturgess with us the other 3 afternoons.

Our PE slots for this term will be on a Monday and a Wednesday. Both sessions will be outdoors, weather permitting, so please bring appropriate layers for the weather. Earrings must be taken out for PE and we would thoroughly recommend not wearing them on days when there is PE or Swimming.

The Curriculum News, please see below, outlines the topics we will be focusing on in each area of the curriculum during the Summer Term. We hope you will continue to support your children at home with Home Learning activities, especially reading and learning multiplication tables. We will set 2 pieces of Home Learning a week and we would expect the children to spend about 20 minutes on each. They will be set on a Friday for the following Thursday.

General Info:

PE & Games - Please note that Gym and Dance inside will be done in bare feet unless there is a medical need for shoes to be worn in which case a letter detailing this will be required.

Uniform - We remind you that children are expected to set a good example and look smart at all times. We are in transition with school uniform so both old and new styles are absolutely fine. Hair should be tied back with plain hair ties and clips of a colour which blends in with school uniform. Ear studs are permitted as the only type of jewellery but nothing else.

Pencil Cases - Pencil cases will not be required in Yr3. Equipment will be provided for the children.

Trips – We are finalising the details of our Egyptian trip and will forward on information as soon as everything is confirmed.

Finally, please communicate with us as it is important that your child is happy in school and making good progress. Mr Smith is regularly on the playground in the mornings and we will dismiss the children on the playground at the end of each day if you wish to talk to us then. You can of course also contact the Office if you would prefer a phone call or meeting to discuss anything. We will aim to get back to you as soon as is possible.
