Be Kind. Be Inspired. Believe.

Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

Update 15/02/24:

Home Learning Projects will go up here on Monday 19th Feb and a hard copy will come home with the children. New for this half term is that children can complete as many projects as they want but they should just bring their favourite project in to share with the class. Details of the sharing day are on the Projects sheet.

TTRockstars continues to be set up for the 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables when played in Garage mode on single player. These are the tables we have been learning in school and that the children are expected to know. We will open up the other tables during this term but they are available in the other game modes. If you need reminding of your log in, please get in touch. Many thanks.

Mr Smith will be teaching the class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Mrs Barker will be teaching Thursday and Friday. Mrs Thompson will be supporting every morning and Mr Schofield every afternoon which is great for consistency.

Our PE slots for the Spring term will be on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Tuesday will sometimes be indoors and sometimes outdoors, developing the ball skills we learnt last term, as we now focus on the games of Dodgeball and Netball. As we will sometimes be outdoors, please bring appropriate layers as the weather changes throughout the term. Thursdays will predominantly be inside as we do Yoga and then Fitness. Earrings must be taken out for PE and we would thoroughly recommend not wearing them on days when there is PE. Please come to school in your PE kit on PE days.

The Curriculum News, available on this web page now, outlines the topics we will be focusing on in each area of the curriculum during the Spring Term. We hope you will continue to support your children at home with Home Learning activities, especially reading and learning multiplication tables. We will set 2 pieces of Home Learning a week and we would expect the children to spend about 20 minutes on each. They will be set on a Friday for the following Thursday. The second half term will then be the Projects for Home Learning.

The school website will have updates, photos and information about what is happening in Year 3 so please refer to it throughout the year.

General Info:

PE & Games - Please note that Gym and Dance inside will be done in bare feet unless there is a medical need for shoes to be worn in which case a letter detailing this will be required.

Uniform - We remind you that children are expected to set a good example and look smart at all times. Hair should be tied back with plain hair ties and clips of a colour which blends in with school uniform. Ear studs are permitted as the only type of jewellery but nothing else.

Pencil Cases - Pencil cases will not be required in Yr3 as per the message at the end of the summer term. Equipment will be provided for all the children.

Trips – We are in the process of organising some school trips and visits so please watch this space and we will update as and when trips are confirmed.

Finally, please communicate with us as it is important that your child is happy in school and making good progress. We will dismiss the children on the playground at the end of each day if you wish to talk to us then. You can of course also contact the Office if you would prefer a phone call or meeting to discuss anything. We will aim to get back to you as soon as is possible.
