Year 3
Welcome to Year 3!
A very busy and exciting year lies ahead and we are very much looking forward to teaching you in Year 3. There will be lots of new things for us all as we introduce new parts of our curriculum again this year. Key Stage 2 is new for all the children and is a significant step up from Key Stage 1 so we hope they are ready. We will all learn together and will be a fantastic team, children and adults. Mr Smith will be teaching the class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Mrs Barker will be teaching Thursday and Friday.
Our PE slots for this half-term will be on a Monday and Tuesday. Monday will be indoors with Premier Sport doing Gymnastics and Dance. Tuesdays will generally be outside and focusing on Fundamentals in the first half term and then ball skills in the second half term. As we aim to be outdoors, please bring appropriate layers as the weather changes throughout the term. Earrings must be taken out for PE and we would thoroughly recommend not wearing them on days when there is PE.
The Curriculum News, available on this web page soon, outlines the topics we will be focusing on in each area of the curriculum during the Autumn Term. We hope you will continue to support your children at home with their reading and learning multiplication tables and number facts.
The school website will have updates, photos and information about what is happening in Year 3 so please refer to it throughout the year. We look forward to seeing lots of you at ‘Meet the Teacher’ on Tuesday 10th September.
General Info:
PE & Games - Please note that Gym and Dance inside will be done in bare feet unless there is a medical need for shoes to be worn in which case a letter detailing this will be required.
Uniform - We remind you that children are expected to set a good example and look smart at all times. Hair should be tied back with plain hair ties and clips of a colour which blends in with school uniform. Ear studs are permitted as the only type of jewellery but nothing else.
Pencil Cases - Pencil cases will not be required in Yr3 as equipment will be provided for all the children. The children will all be writing with pencils.
Trips – We are in the process of organising some school trips and visits so please watch this space and we will update as and when trips are confirmed.
Finally, please communicate with us as it is important that your child is happy in school and making good progress. We will dismiss the children on the playground at the end of each day if you wish to talk to us then. You can of course also contact the Office if you would prefer a phone call or meeting to discuss anything. We will aim to get back to you as soon as is possible.
