Cedar Park School

Be Kind. Be Inspired. Believe.

Personal Development

Our Personal Development Offer

At Cedar Park, we have developed our offer so that all children can access enrichment activities that develop them as local and global citizens.

We have a universal offer, which all children will access during their time at Cedar Park. There are also specific and invitational enrichment activities that will happen for certain cohorts of children.

Celebrating Difference

At Cedar Park, we recognise and celebrated difference all of the time through our curriculum and enrichment offer. As well as regular teaching through our RE and PSHE curriculum, we have put on events based around religious festivals and also facilitated our annual Being Different Being Equal Week.

In recent years we have hosted Eid Day, Diwali festivals and Yom Kippur Day. Our BDBE weeks are themed and have covered different faiths; race and culture; countries we have connections to; disability and SEND; differing family types. Our next theme will centre around disability in sport.

As part of the 2025 Being Different Being Equal Week, we celebrated artists from around the globe and put on a gallery for our school community.

British Values Award

Our aim at Cedar Park is to help produce kind citizens that believe in themselves and who are inspired to support their community and beyond. This is why we have designed a bespoke British Values Award that helps children to understand that they are part of a school, Hazlemere, British and Global community.

Children can earn British Value Badges, starting with Bronze in Year 1 and going right up to the prestigious Headteacher's Award in Year 6.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We have a commitment to SCR and Cedar Park will always strive for:

  • a fair, inclusive and equitable environment that supports all children and adults
  • community engagement and volunteering that helps people beyond Cedar Park
  • a sustainable environment that helps our planet.

The above image is shared with our children and with our parents several times within a school year. It symbolises our commitment to giving every person what they need, with, what we call a 'Whatever it Takes' attitude.

We have lots of adaptations within our classrooms, but one unique element about Cedar Park is our sensory practice- specifically, our sensory room, which we know some children need in order to thrive within the classroom.

2024 saw the launch of each of our classes getting involved in community events and projects. This varied from supporting residents from a local care home, collecting food items for OneCanTrust and volunteering in our local shop. Our plan is to build on our current offer so that children can help more people within the community.

The planet is very important to all of us at Cedar Park and has been particularly high on our agenda since 2023, when the School Council made it their highest priority. We have got involved in two projects- one has been to create a Grow Together Garden on the school site so that we can grow our own food. The other has been on our local fields, helping to preserve the bee population.

The school has also used a government grant in order to change all lights in the school to LED. Our next step is to install a solar array onto the school roof.
